Lyrics

I didn't realize Kj had already done this song until I was putting in the artist name. It was already finished so I went ahead and posted it anyway. Sorry Kj! I need to start searching beforehand next time. Thanks to judofuse for being the always-willing collaborator.

As I walk through the fairway of Columbia’s best
I scan the 15th hole and realize there’ll be nothing left
And I’ve been playing this course for so long but
No one else seems to think that the Purple Line’s wrong
I’m a really rich dude with golf on my mind
Got an iron in my hand and a really bad lie
They say millions will commute but that’s not what I doubt see
Why can’t they understand that it’s all about me
I guess they can’t, I guess they won’t
I guess they're dumb, but why can’t they all take the bus, fools

We've been spending most our lives without the Metro’s Purple Line
All the ocelots will cry if you add the Metro’s Purple Line
We can live the rest of our lives without the Metro's Purple Line
At least wait until Tony dies before you add the Metro’s Purple Line

Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the one we hurt is Mr. Tony
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That he's the one we need to please

No complaints here. This is fabulous and one can never get enough Gangsta's Paradise. This is way better so I'm glad you didn't check if anyone had done it until after you were done with it! It's a rare thing when a rap song makes the air. Totally deserved.

This jingle makes me happy. What makes me sad is that it's almost 20 years old.

I like to call it my "Shouldn't be singing after yelling over loud music in a drenched patio bar for 4 hours and not getting much sleep" voice. It's so ridiculous... so when added to the hilarious lyrics it makes me laugh too.

next season i will try to be more specific with crediting parts of the song. maybe if i had actually done so they would have played it. Jason's voice singing "Fister" kills me. and when he starts sining in this song it kills me too.

Haha yeah, I was thinking the same thing. They played your whole part on this song and didn't even mention you.

So glad they played this one, and great email to go with it. I laughed hard when he didn't mention me at all - after crediting me for singing on "Super G" even though it was Rob and they didn't even play my small part near the end of that song. It was a great mix up moment, perfect for the show.

And when you say telescope, do you mean Hubble? You can definitely write like you were up there.

Maybe it's the Sheehan in me, but the "Tony dies" line is the one that turns me into a little kid.

I can't explain it, but "All the ocelots will cry..." makes me laugh like a little kid. Thanks for asking me to join in. To paraphrase Mr. Tony - I'm always willing when it's smart and funny. Plus, now I know about the Kj version and get to go listen to it next!
