Fire and Rain (Redux)

Like so many evenings, I was dining out at the Palm
Alan’s and my clans reveling in the repartee
Walked out under the awning and a storm came on strong
This is all fascinating ‘cause it happened to me
Driving home I called Michael about the rain
Coming down so hard that I thought it would never end
Called a couple more times as the monsoon did extend
But I could tell he didn’t want to hear from me again

Did I mention I picked up the check
It was a big one you understand
We’re talking the Palm here, not the Golden Corral buffet
I make big ducats and this gesture is grand
So I make sure that everyone sees me pay
Oh, did I mention about the rain
Plus this other thing ‘bout this lady I didn’t comprehend
Turns out she’s the wife of a pretty good golf friend
But at my age that kind of thing will surely happen again
