A parody of a song by Prince.

Lyrics

U don't have 2 be beautiful
2 do my job
U just need to get me in a rage
Then put me on

Eye don’t need my typing skills
2 put this out
U just mention the Purple Line
Your gonna hear the way that I can shout

I’m already quite rich
Though I’d take more
2 checks from ESPN
Is quite a score
Ain’t no specific amount that I’d be comfortable with
I just want to be left alone, with a sand-which

From "Kiss," by The Artist Formerly and Once Again Known As Prince

he had recently signed a new contract with warner brothers and he did intend to start releasing some of it and remaster all of his older stuff.

Bet he could put together a jingle in 15 minutes.

Don't forget "Nothing Compares 2U." I'm sure that, if he allows for it in his will, there are 10 great Prince albums that will be release from his vault.

i would go so far as to say that if you put together his 15 best UNRELEASED songs it would be better than most bands greatest hits album, and i don't mean that hyperbolically in the least.

Yep - I also love all the aliases he used. That first Time album IS Prince (Jamie Starr) playing every instrument, doing the BGVs, recording, producing. mixing... The rest of their stuff is him doing most of it as well. He basically did the alter ego musician stuff his entire career with multiple bands, never using his name, and it was all good... while simultaneously putting out some of the greatest albums ever. His secondary stuff is good enough to make him one of the best.

he plays keyboards on Stand Back and if you listen to it you can hear that it's just Little Red Corvette. she tells a great story about that.

i have the Apollonia demo of it. sounds sorta like Take Me With U. he also wrote The Glamorous Life and A Love Bizarre for Sheila E., all of the songs for The Time, I Feel For You that Chaka Khan covered, Sugar Walls, by Sheena Easton, and a lot more. in the 80s he was a maniacal songwriter.

I just learned he wrote Manic Monday by the Bangles, which I've also done. Did anyone know that?

In my head, I keep hearing the opening lines: "ALL OF MY ORANGE LIFE...I HAVE BEEN A NERVOUS WRECK..." or something like that....

First thought was to do a Prince jingle. But that's because I view everything through jingle-colored glasses.

Really? it feels a like parody isn't the best response to tragedy, but maybe it is for the show that stinks. I like KJ's idea.

I did the Sinead version of a the Prince-penned Nothing Compares 2 U. I'd love to hear them do all Prince songs tomorrow as segment lead-ins. What sad, sad news.

I haven't done a Prince jingle... but most every note I've ever played is partly due to hearing Prince.

Joe Farrell did Purple Rain/Line. I'm grateful for the idea of a tribute, Rob, (I almost always think of a jingle as at least a recognition that the artist created a valuable work), but for TK, no, it just doesn't seem fitting. Esp a death at 57 by a legend that (alas) I think they'll be lukewarm about on air.

This should air, it's really good. I don't know if playing it on Tony's show is a tribute or an insult, though.
