Lyrics

My props to one Robert Berg for his in-studio performance. It was an actually insightful conversation, and I think Rob spoke for many of us with his assessment of the Art of the . . . Jingle. (Unlike my on on-air flubbing in which I sounded like a jackass as TK ripped my professional life. Good times). Thanks, also, to Anita for a bit of inspiration. Hey, Jason - how'm I doing in the introductory paragraph department??

Don't tell me you don't know the difference
Between a weak day and a . . . . weekday
Listens up to all the things he’ll say
Whether run through by a swordfish or eaten by a black bear
He’ll craft a verbile ditty out of even your worst nightmare

He’s hoping for a decent hook
Everyday, everyday, everyday he writes in his notebook

Find a good song, and nearly half your work is done
By verse two he’s found the fulcrum of the tune
We heard Tony said he knew how each column would end
But the incomparable will floor us by exhausting his thesaurus

He’s hoping for a decent hook
Everyday, everyday, everyday he writes in his notebook

First - this intro paragraph gets my seal of approval. Second - that gets you absolutely nothing. Third - great job honoring Rob's show appearance while including references to his inclination to write about brash people getting killed by animals. Forth - I approve of that inclination.

The fulcrum, the reveal, Brad, Rob, MacManus (Declan, that is) jokes, a great tune, a Fuse-Ian intro - this one has it all. Bravo!

i would like to reiterate that i am not worthy of this jingle, but i'll happily take it. i just now listened to Old Guy from Friday and all i hear is "uh, umm, uh, umm, umm, uh..."
