A parody of a song by Steely Dan.
A Collaboration by Rich Oettinger in Albany NY & John Fitzpatrick in Arlington, VA
Recorded: 12/14/2015  Released: 12/14/2015  First aired: unaired

Lyrics

I wrote up the lyrics and John turned this thing around in almost no time, including 3 versions! I'm putting the version with the sound bite of the lyrics inspiration up here, though I sent Nigel what I thought was the most radio friendly short intro version.

Monkeys and Fear (Reelin' in the Years by Steely Dan parody):

It's nominally about sports
But it's Old Guy Radio
TK does a lot of yodeling
Just to sell a few windows
Get a forecast, pick some games,
"Eat it," Jeanne if you can't name the band
What the heck's this show about
I'll never understand

It's ‘bout monkeys and fear
Never having enough time
Tony golfing with world leaders
And dining at the Palm

It's 'bout monkeys and fear
Lying about your pant size
"The Newsroom" and "Yes, Dear"
And how to get there from PTI

It still pisses me off that Mr. Tony let McManus veto this being aired

Very cool! And I need to get your directions to Joe's basement, cause it takes me like 9 hours to drive there.

Am grateful Rich put this idea out there. I love the quick turners. As we all know, these things take only 15 minutes. The trick is, it takes about an hour and a half to get to Joe Aro's basement....

It's pretty cool we keep churning out Steely Dan tunes, considering their remarkable track-record on air.
