Lyrics

Imagine if Cillizza made a jingle about his favorite band, Starship. (While looking up their song titles I discovered they have more "greatest hits" albums than regular albums... just wow.)

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Them Now"
Cause they "Built This City"
They "Set the Night to Music,"
With Grace and Mickey
With "Wings of a Lie"
And "Love Among the Cannibals"
Hey, I'm TheFix, only I can handle them

Another song they sang
Was about a girl named "Jane"
And one might have heard about a girl named "Sara"
They're the composers
Of "It's Not Over (til it's Over) "
Yeah... you thought that was Yogi Bera!?

And many more, more
Songs that were "great"
They've put out 4, 4!
Albums to date
And then 5(!) more, (5!) MORE(!)
"Greatest Hits" compilations
That's not even a joke...nope
Look it up, it's great.

Starship is so good you guys
Listen Up! I'll tell you why
Grace Slick never flew so high
They're the best band of all time

Brilliantly done, as always. Way to slip both a Slick and Listen Up reference in too. I've never heard a single Nicki Minaj song in my life but I'd wager to say this is better than anything she's done.

Thanks! When I was reading about Starship to get song titles I saw they had an album come out in 2013, and looked like Mickey was still with them. I had no idea they did anything past the late 80s. He kills it on "Jane" for sure - even if most of their later stuff as just Starship I have a hard time listening to due to the songwriting.

Wonder what Mickey is doing these days. Another voice I have always dug. Gotta go google him now....

Now I shall lie in wait, for the next time Cillizza is scheduled for the show - to send this with the hope he at least might hear this stupidity and the bell of shame shall ring in his ears for many days to come.

this is so damned slick! honestly, no pun intended (this is not payback for your "survivor" comment). I can't believe you pulled off a Nicki Minaj cover and it sounds fantastic. and personally I would like to thank you for taking Cillizza to task over this.

I also laugh at the ridiculousness of this thing, while shaking my head and wondering what am I doing. Due to unusual circumstances, I watched Mannequin about 100 times on VHS one summer as a kid... way too much - so I am reminded of that whenever I think about anything to do with that movie. The theme from that is certainly a better song and title than anything else I've heard from Starship.

I do enjoy "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" - Mannequin, right? The love theme from Mannequin 2 is unreleased but even better! (I'm not joking about either of these two items)
