Lyrics
As soon as I heard Jason and John's ultra cool "Going Down" [
http://tkjingles.com/1197.a] I wanted to join in their blues jam. As you'll hear, they are great again on this one. The original tune is a fun mix that both honors and mocks the Elvis myth, and that seems to match up with the TK-love-mockery of the jingle-verse. Enjoy, and give it up for Jason and John N. Great fun!
Jason Fuse - All guitars, drums, digital production, and musical legerdemain
John Neiswinger - organ, slathered on and marinated in
Me - wrote, sang, hoped just a little of their mojo would rub off on me
"Riding With The King" by John Hiatt
[also covered by Eric Clapton & B.B. King]
Lost his newspaper job, on air he gets well paid
Vents his spleen each day in a new tirade
A hundred dollars for a TV install
Can break down “Ulysses” but can’t plug that thing into the wall?
[That’s for real, y’all]
Can’t handle TWA, prefers to stay on land
Unless he’s bombed out on Ativan
Drives a Cadillac, yeah, it’s an Old Guy thing
Don’t you know in his world he’s the king?
Nice gig if you can get it, works ten months a year
In June he’ll check himself on out of here
Go to that mansion, by the shore
With an elevator to go up one floor [it’s wall-papered with golf scores ]
Takes his shots on air, makes sharp quips offhand
First time he tweets is when he gets canned
Makes big bucks but he’s always begging for free things
That’s how he became the schnorrer king
Wants you to send him bling
Loves it when the littles sing
Once wore a cape and bushy ‘fro, that ain’t no jive
Yet he still shows his face on TV every night
I watch on PTI and can’t believe the crap he slings
Listen up while his opinions ring
[Spoken]
Well he left the New York Times to take Ben Bradlee’s gold
Has a wit sharp as a razor and an attitude so bold
Wrote columnettes ‘til he ran afoul of that Raju guy
He’s gonna carp and moan until the day he dies
Don’t know why this guy is panic-ing
Man he loves it when the littles sing
He’s the kvetching king
Seems to me narcissism is his thing?
Wilbon says that this ain’t surprising
In his world, he’s the king
