Lyrics

A little backstory: I wrote this in a two take improv session and had it 90% recorded when Michelle walked by and basically said, "Hey, that's my jam - why aren't you asking me to record this??" I answered that I needed a hasty track for a prodcast bumper, this wasn't any kind of serious effort. But she was undeterred and grabbed the mic to record this tune in one take. I usually keep these prodcast tracks in cold storage but I thought this one actually had some appeal so I'm sharing it here!

On my own
Pretending I make money
All alone
except for Chris, he’s so smart and so funny
Without him, I couldn’t do this podcast
‘cause he’s the best and really shines in this brand new format

To get paid
I’m gonna need some sponsors
And I hope they pay a million dollars
And the Littles, I’m sure that they’ll keep listening
‘cause after all they’re gonna get Chris and me forever

A parody of Les Miserables, "On My Own"

man, you just keep twisting the knife. but it's funny, so i don't find myself complaining too much. michelle's vocals really accentuate the joke too.

Look Up "Can You Hear the Bald Man Kvetch." It's one of my favorite tunes on here.

Master of the House seems like another great choice, either about buying up a house, setting up a podcast studio in a house, eating dinner with House...

Loved hearing this on the prodcast this morning. Glad you posted it, cause it's great. My favorite Les Mis song. I'm gonna push for Les Mis to be made (mostly) whole in jingle form this summer - we're like halfway there already.
