Lyrics

For the selfless academic in us all.....

"They Can't Take That Away From Me"

They gave Bob Ryan one
Wilbon could get one, too
It's why I joined this board
Hey now, won’t you give a sash to me

"Doctor Tony" rings true
I’ll lord it over all you
So if I’m gonna write checks
Listen up, you’re gonna give that sash to me

I may never, never drive again
On that bumpy road up north
So let’s focus
On what makes the cash come forth

Put my Big Head in the stands
For all the Bearcats fans
Let’s start commencement plans
Talkin’ honorary Doctor’s degree
Oh, you’d better give that sash to me

A parody of "They Can't Take That Away From Me" by Frank Sinatra

Since when does an honorary doctorate let you dress like the Monopoly Guy coming in second in a beauty contest?

I wondered how long it would take for the "sash" jingles. Not long! Brillant, John!

Definitely was wondering what Dr Weiss thought of all this shameless degree coveting....and love that punchline, Brad!

I sent in this email yesterday a.m. (indulge me, sorry to poach here): I'd be happy to send you my doctorate. It only took me eight years to earn it from the University of Chicago. I did have to submit a 400 page dissertation (rather than a series of columnettes) and it is now my primary professional qualification and the foundation of my career. But since you've asked for it, how can I say no? I do not have the matching sash that you so hoped for, but I can send a t-shirt in the Chicago colors: Maroon.
