Lyrics

This is one of my favorite songs so why not destroy it with a story about an incoherent man, 2 monkeys, and a dead woman in a Budget Inn in Florida.

Lyrics:

Hello,
Is there anybody in there?
It’s your local Florida PD
And we’re coming through your door

Hello there sir
We don’t mean to cause a stir
But we heard there were problems
So strange for a Budget Inn

Wake up,
Your lady friend aint lookin good
And there’s 2 capuchin monkeys
Dressed in sailor suits

"You wouldn’t believe the night we had
A fine performance of South Pacific
Flash and Star, they earned rave reviews
A couple of chimps acting like full grown monkeys
When I was a child we had a lemur
Or maybe he was just a baboon
Now I have two primates once again
You’re not from Florida, wouldn’t understand
You need huff some glue
Oh it’s so great, this incoherent state…"

Doesn't it go without saying that we're all idiots?

ha, Brad! I had not even noticed the repeated misspellings in the lyrics. The tragic decline of the modern American male, casually ignoring proper scientific classification while also replacing a broad group in the animal kingdom with an American quartet who briefly rode (quite well) a British train. Maybe I had some Monkees influence floating around back there when I wrote the idea/lyrics down but chances are I am just an idiot.

Monkeys (Monkees) and Chimps never get old. And Patrick really delivers on this one.

This is great, Patrick! It amuses me how often Brad's comment is related to some subtle difference between the written lyrics & what's performed. "Monkees" indeed.

Yes, very Gilmore-esque. Though I think it's kind of par for a Budget Inn (also, nice "Monkees" - Tork and Dolenz?)
