Ballad of the Occoquan (Ballad of the Alamo)
Lyrics
Couldn't help myself...recorded this at the office so pardon the vocal recording quality as I was trying to sneak it in a couple takes when no one was around.......all apologies to Marty Robbins
-Ballad of the Occoquan-
In Northern Virginia, near the town of Quantico,
Theres a bridge over a river that they call The Occoquan.
You may look at all the traffic and say where did this come from.
Most times between the rising and the setting of the sun,
You can move a mile an hour while your life flies slowly by
You won't make it to Columbia, no matter how you try...
Dale City, Dumfries, Potomac Mills (the stores!)
Rippon Landing, Quantico, exotic names for sure!
On one frigid Saturday, Tony said to himself...
I'll leave right now and Waze will know, how to get to Quantico.
Well, the traffic started coming and Waze didn't see
a way to the hotlanes, though he was willing to pay double fees!
In Northern Virginia, near the town of Quantico,
Like an extra from the jersey shore, sits an orange man, all alone...
And he yells in vain at traffic and calls out the signs he sees
and his Waze app sucks up all the life, out of his iPhone 3
There's no way he'll make a tee time and Tony starts to roar
Where do all these people come from, traffic at The Occoquan
Where the hell do they all come from...Stop and go at Quantico
