Lyrics

Kornheiser [Elvis Costello's "Alison"]

Oh I’ve been listening to your show now for so long, Tone
And there’s the way you look all orange and bald
On my TV set
I heard you let that monkey Reginald
Figure out which games to bet

I load my songs up to TK Jingles
Like those other slicker troubadours
And I know Nigel won’t put em on air
If they lack some behooves and bone-jours
Kornheiser, I know air travel’s scaring you.
Oh, Kornheiser, his Walker’s Blue.

Well I see you've got a mailbag now.
Did the littles send their emails faxes and their notes?
Gary even wrote a silly mailbag theme.
I'll bet he wish’d he’d sold the rights
Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking
When I hear the silly things that you say.
I did not even have to change that lyric
'cause that one comes true every day

Kornheiser, I know these songs are thrilling you
Oh, Kornheiser, this theme is through

Wow! There are so many things I like about this. One of my absolute favorite tunes ever, the lyrics (bone-jours!), your singing. But mostly I respect the chutzpah to do the whole tune and push outside the Tony comfort-zone of tunage. Inspiring!

Thanks Jerry. Funny thing about the harmonies, the track I bought had background vocals only on the "Alison" line, so I double tracked my vocals singing "kornheiser" just trying to drown that out. Happy accident...

John Fitz doesn't write jingles he writes full on song parodies. Crazy. Excellent Costello-esque performance, strong harmonies & I love the the "I did not even have to change that lyric" part. Brilliant!
