Lyrics

Tony's got your letters
He got your e-mails, faxes and notes
and he's gonna read some
read some for you folks

Tony's gotta go now
He works two jobs and he can't be late!
Never make him angry
or he might smash your dinner plates

Dear Mr. Tony,
send my apologies to Liz Clarke
for this mailbag jingle
I set to "Dancing in the Dark"

A parody of Bruce Springsteen, "Dancing in the Dark"

Liz hating the original song was a total surprise. I'm not a Bruce fan, so I don't discriminate between his cheeseball commercial hits (like this) and the tunes that his diehards find so appealing (e.g. Jungleland).

I love this jingle! I especially love Liz's reaction and Nigel's laugh when she declares it's the perfect song to parody because she hates it! Good job, Jerry!

This is one of my personal favorites because it was pure serendipity -- it literally went from initial concept to final mix in less than an hour. I didn't even write lyrics, I just improvised 4 or 5 takes in that ridiculous Bruce voice and mixed & matched the best of it into this final cut.
