Lyrics

If you would read my e-mail
what a laugh I’d give you all
I'd include some actual humor
none of this crap about being tall

What happened to notes from Bill Isaacson
or Rob in Arlington?
Who cares what I had for lunch?

How did it ever get this bad?
today you read a letter about someone’s cat
what the hell is that?

I never heard such a silly array
of endless trivia and I just don’t get it
Nothing no one writes is wrong
and, hell, you play my songs
so let's forget everything I said

A parody of Gordon Lightfoot, "If You Could Read My Mind"

This might lead to the need for another Stones tune: "Email backlash, its a drag drag drag..."

I've noticed that they actually dedicate quite a bit more time to the mailbag segment with this silly format, so at least that's a plus -- it was getting to be too short! And whether you like or hate the new format, I'm sure they'll find a balance at some point. From a comedy standpoint, a few of those stream of consciousness e-mails would be a funny non-sequitir between traditional messages.

Granted, he reads lots more email this way, but the quality has taken a nose-dive! Hope it's just a temporary phase. This jingle is right on time, though! Ending is Claaaasic.....
