Sultan of Swag
Lyrics
Another entry in the long form series......and I do mean long, jeesh....
"Sultan Of Swag"
He wakes up when it’s dark
Most days the clock’s not even struck four
We who are younger somehow we manage to sleep thru the night
He hops into a Caddy from Jim Coleman
Heads to the Pike, never does he take the Beltway
He parks real close, unless his spot is got by a weasel
Kev calls for rain, and then chuckles when bad things go down
In other chairs, familiar voices
Though Jeannie laughs, no one around can hear the sound
Way on downtown, way on downtown in Rockville town
Check out Gary Braun he hears every ‘er
Mind he's strictly jokin’ he makes it clear “he hardly knew her”
And our old bald guy, there’s so much he can afford
But still he gets up in the mike, wants stuff for free
And Nigel doesn't mind if he doesn't get much air time
He's got a daytime job, he’s the show clock nag
Tony, he will beg for stuff, just anything
Long as its not in a Whole Foods bag
‘cause he’s the Sultan, he’s the Sultan of Swag
And the loyal littles they’re sending stuff in by the barrel
Singing jingles, writing emails faxes and notes
They don't give a damn about a sports talk call in show
It ain't what they call radio
They’ll hear the podcast, yeah the podcast, tomorrow (tomorrow)
(come on back after the solo)
And then the man, he steps right up to the microphone
And says at last just as the time bell rings
'On your bike, wear white as you ride home’
and he makes it fast, with one more thing
'What am I speaking....What am I speaking, Chinese?' (Chinese)
A parody of "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits
