Lyrics

Well it didn't quite work out as an on-air tribute, but it's still great that Carroll Connelley's sister worked so hard to try to get her kid-brother some props from Mr Kornheiser during the show's last week before the summer break. Here's the email tribute she wrote. Lyrics for the jingle follow. Semper Fi, Marine

Dear Tony K. and staff extraordinaire,

My name is Patience Connelley Larkin, and I am a retired Air Force Colonel. My brother is Lt Col Carroll Connelley, an Officer of Marines, (yet never to be as highly ranked as his sister). As you are well aware… he is an AVID, CRAZED fan of your show. Carroll has sent me sound bites of songs he has written and which the very talented Mr. Fitzpatrick has sung…which you have played on air. Is there a bigger ham or lover of his own voice than my brother? And he has even been to TK Mecca (aka your studio) and participated in one of your shows…let me just say that this one event possibly meant more to him than the birth of his four children!

My point and humble request (finally) ….Carroll is retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps after 20 years of service to his country. His retirement ceremony is at the end of July, and it would mean a tremendous amount to have you read this letter (or parts) and play John Fitzpatrick's tribute to Carroll's Marine Corps service on the air.

Lt Col Carroll Connelley spent four years attending the Naval Academy, followed by 20 years in the Marine Corps, first as an infantry officer, then as a lawyer. He spent years away from his family in far away places like Iraq, Djibouti and on cruise (not the Carnival kind, either). He lived through some tough, unpleasant experiences in those locations, and thankfully made it back home from each. He taught thousands of future Naval and Marine Corps personnel... as an instructor at the Naval Academy, at the Naval Academy Prep School and leading recruit training at Parris Island, S.C. Carroll has done the hard duty and sacrificed time with his family, for the good of this Nation. Your mention of his service to our Country, will be a kind gesture and fitting end to a long, successful career. Or just say it like they do in the Corps....Ooh Rah, Marine....Semper Fi!

Thank you for your consideration and if you have any questions, my information is below.

v/r,

Patience Connelley Larkin,Col, USAF (Ret)

Danny Boy for LtCol Carroll Connelly, USMC

Oh Tony, boy, the big Marine's retiring
Carroll and his kids have sung songs on your show
He's got a new job, so it seems that he'll still feed them
But his new boss won't let him have a radio

Lori's his wife, I'll tell you she's quite striking
Devin and Cian, chips off his block no doubt
Gracin and Skylar think that their dad's part Viking
But they all know that mom's the one with all the clout

He served with pride from Annapolis to Baghdad
He taught the law and what Navy leaders need to know
One glance would tell, from all of his sent emails
On Tony K, oh Tone, this boy, he loves your show
