Lyrics

I got fifteen pennies so it seems about time
to head to the bank to get a nickel & dime
Driving home I stop for gas and I pay with a ten
they give me some pennies I start over again

Now I got four cents (enough for a pile!)
It’s gonna sit there on my dresser a while
I won’t touch it ’til that pile can divide by five
This is really how I think and how I live my life

Two weeks later and I’m back on the road
I’m feeling kinda sickly ‘cause I’m fighting a cold
I stop at McDonald's for a burger and fries
It costs $4.97 so I pay with a five

Three months later the pile's at twenty-four cents
I’m stuck in DC at some stupid event
I see a penny on the ground, I shout "Stop right there!!!
That makes twenty-five cents!!!!!"

Now that’s worth a drive to Delaware.

A parody of Tennessee Ernie Ford, "Sixteen Tons"

The more the merrier. I wanted this to have about 20 verses as he slowly built from 4 cents to 25 but I kept it short for the podcast. The monotony of that story would have been dreadful by 1:30 but glorious by 3:00 because it was just going to keep going & going until it ended with the time loop where he gets change on the drive home from the bank.
