Lyrics

Howard Fineman, sidecar-ing with Torie
Reminiscing about Iron City. Hey, let’s go to Primanti’s!
And get a kielbasa and cheese!

Satchmo frowns
At the sound
On the show, of the Crazy Twain of Yinzers

Hear the Donnie Iris cover band
Down on the South Side, I need to get an Uber ride
There’s no one driving this van
How am I gonna get to the Warhol n’at?

Hands down
these awful sounds
Out of the mouths of the Crazy Twain of Yinzers

In terms of critical commentary, native Pittsburghers often cultivate a grotesque panoply of lazy vowels and an abhorrent idiom that reduces a sentence like:

“Are you two going to Heinz Field for the Steeler game?”
to
“Hey, Yinz goin’ dahntahn ta da Stiller game n’at?”

Icy roads are “slippy,”
nosy people are “nebby,”
and Narisetti is a “jag-off.”

It is enough to make an English Writing major want to stick a meat thermometer in his ears.

thanks, Bob! i've tried to neutralize the Yinzer in me, but it comes out from time to time. but in this jingle i straight up channeled Paulsen & Krenn's Stanley P. Kochowski character from their DVE morning show 30 years ago. i thought it worked pretty well for this song.

Only a local could tie that all together so well. And add my voice to the chorus impressed by your workaround on the time limit.

i gotta admit, their reaction to this stupid jingle was very gratifying. and steve, the subversive part of me really wanted to break that 1 minute rule somehow and this was my workaround.

Also love the twist you put in it - if you let the music stop and continue talking, you can go over a minute. Genius! It's such a fine line between stupid and clever...

Bravo, Rob! There hasn't been an in-studio reaction like that in a very long time. Certainly not in the podcast era, and probably well before. Prize that!

Plus, if this is a Pittsburgh accent you are doing I am noticing undeniable similarities with the way the fine folks of DUNDALK, MARYLAND talk, hon.....
