Lyrics

Cannot WAIT to hear his rant tomorrow morning about this dumpster fire of a team. I recorded this as my man Jake Arrieta threw 7 shutout innings against the Pirates, which made it even sweeter. One crazy thing? I couldn't find a karaoke track of this stupid song anywhere. So I recorded the sound from the YouTube music video, and spliced the intro and one bridge section together to make it. It's not perfect, but I was not about to dedicate more time on this than necessary ;-).

-----------------------
We are the Nats, a sputterin’ crew
Breakin’ on down, just like we do.
We’re so bad, but we think we’re good.
Blowin’ your minds like we knew we would.
You know………….we were struttin’ for fun
Askin’ for bling before the season’s done
Harper ain’t here to start no trouble,
But we’re seeing a “Papelbon scuffle.”

Well they call me Brycie
And I like to gloat.
I jogged to first once, but pissed off the coach
I declared our rings since training camp
Said the Nats would be the MLB champs.
But then this schmuck blew the game wide open
And since he’s been here, well, he’s been blowin’
You know my agent is a bit too greedy,
So you might just see me in pinstripes, sweetie

Yeah, they call me Pap, and I’m world class.
Puttin’ my slider in Herrera’s ass
I pitched real good for the Sox and Phillies
And ousted Storen, that little baby.
I flick off fans who like to boo
And rat out teammates like Manny, too
I see this punk flexin’ his muscles
And then I show him the Papelbon scuffle.

Nice job! I used to own the 45 of this, although I hated that team. Fond memories of my Redskins ending their seasons in '86 and '87, both playoff games at Soldier Field. Thanks for stirring up those memories!

My first year in grad school was 1985 in Chicago, so this tune - the entire six minutes of it - was on a continuous loop all across town for about eighteen months. Never thought I'd be happy to hear it again, but - yes!!

I was a real young kid living in Massachusetts at the time, and therefore had a skewed perspective of that season. All of my friends told me the Patriots were going to whip the Bears. I don't think I saw the shuffle video until some years later.

I was born the year they won, so didn't get to enjoy the team like my dad did. However, I did get to watch the Superbowl game in my high school drafting class. One of the benefits of living near Chicago I guess ;-).

I loved watching that team crush that season, so I loved this stupid song when I was a kid. I have listened to it way too many times.

I think they just wanted to let as many players get in it as possible. I don't know if I ever watched more than a minute or two straight through.

Man, good riff on that title... "Brycie" also really funny. The original being 6 minutes long is crazy. I remember watching the video in the 80s and would have never guessed that.

haha. Sorry I didn't add anyone - this was one of those jingles that probably has a shelf life of approximately one day, so I wanted to put it together asap ;-) I can't believe the original song is almost 6 minutes long!
