Lyrics

I recorded this sometime last week around the same time as Dylan's last week, but somehow the recording got lost. Figured I'd just post it here for posterity since it's such a simple one to record. Now, unfortunately, I can't think of this song without thinking of the stupid train line that only effects the old man....sigh...

---------------

“Back off! Don’t pave!” old man thinking maybe homicide
The bums insist, but you know that he’ll be pissed
With the tracks on the West side.
Tony’s griping on the air, he’s contemplating suicide
He wants to nix those bricks cause the news at 6
Says that Hogan’s on a deadline

While the millionaire’s hide in Chevy Chase
The hippies are throwin’ stats in his face
So he attacks those kids with his radio sound.
“Not fleek” they say, they just wanna get around
Life is rough, hope the mayor’s tough
To hold back the ribbon cutting for a time
Tony’s putting up a good fight,
But we’re getting closer to the purple line
Closer to the purple line!
Closer to the purple line!

Yes, the sound quality on this is great! I don't think I know the original song but I don't think I want to...brilliant stuff!

dude, this is lights out! the nix/bricks/6 rhyme PLUS the consonance of wantS/niX/thoSe/brickS/cauSe/newS/Six all in one line?! are you KIDDING me? and then wrap around with SayS. and plus everything that Jason said too. this is gorgeous.

Haha your production is the gold standard for this site for sure and you can't ever tell you're NOT in a legit studio. If you listen closely on my jingle about James Carville, you can hear my 18 month old yell somewhere in the middle. Haha

That's great. It's totally working - there's less natural reverb from the room. I record in a tiny room now because of how much technology has improved. Most of my stuff, if you listen really closely, you can hear my kids watching TV or laughing in the background from 3 feet away.

Oddly enough, the one thing I've changed has been recording the vocals in my room instead of the basement. I think the padding of the comforter and recliner helps make it sound a little better... Haha. That and I'm just getting more used to the software. Thanks!

Very cool! Did you change anything in your recording setup recently? The production was fine before, but sounds great on the last couple I've heard.
